Leonardo announced the opening of a new helicopter maintenance and support facility at Elstree Aerodrome, further strengthening its long-term commitment to the UK aerospace sector and reinforcing its presence in one of Europe’s largest helicopter markets. The new site represents an investment of around £15 million, including an initial stock of components and spare parts valued at more than £10 million, and will provide manufacturer-approved maintenance, logistics and technical support services for Leonardo civil helicopters operating across the UK and Ireland.

At EBACE 2025 Universal Vulkaan Aviation Pte Limited (UVA), Leonardo’s authorized distributor for the Indian civil helicopter market, signed a contract for two AW169 light-intermediate twin-engine helicopters. The aircraft will be configured for VIP/Corporate transport, further consolidating Leonardo’s leadership in the global VIP multiengine helicopter segment and expanding the AW169’s footprint in India.

Leonardo’s long established regional helicopter distributor for UK and Ireland Sloane Helicopters (Sloane) announced the signing for three more AW109 Trekker light twin engine helicopters at EBACE 2025 (Geneva, 20-22 May). The delivery of these VIP-configured aircraft are expected to be carried out in 2027 and add to five AW109 GrandNews ordered in March this year.

Aero Asahi Corporation, one of Japan’s leading general aviation service providers, will introduce an AW169 light intermediate twin engine helicopter with a dedicated Agusta configuration into service. Aero Asahi is the first Japanese operator to use an exclusive VIP Leonardo helicopter in Japan under the relevant Agusta brand.

Leonardo has unveiled a full-scale cabin mock-up of the next generation AW09 single engine helicopter at EBACE 2024 (Geneva, 28-30 May 2024) featuring an exclusive VIP-corporate transport cabin layout and paint scheme as one of the newly-developed options, marking the entrance of the new model into the Agusta-branded product range

With a global fleet of more than 900 helicopters carrying out a range of passenger missions, including private transport, corporate transport, charter, scheduled services and VIP/government transport, and a stable 45% share in the VIP multi engine market over the last ten years, Leonardo is the global leader in this sector.

A distributor Agreement was signed at LABACE 2023 between Leonardo and Gruppomodena S.A. for the civil market in Uruguay and Argentina including, an order for two AW119Kx and an order for one AW109 GrandNew for a private operator in Brazil.

Two more AW109 light twin helicopters have been ordered by UK and Ireland’s regional distributor Sloane Over the last 12 months Leonardo registered total orders for nearly 15 Private/Corporate helicopters in the region.

Europe’s major executive air transport exhibition EBACE is back this year in Geneva, Switzerland on 23-25 May, enabling Leonardo to join the business aviation community to explore the future of the industry. Leonardo will present the latest of its Agusta brand range of dedicated services.

The company’s Brazilian Service and Logistics Centre has enabled Leonardo to build strong foundations that strengthen the level of quality services for helicopters operators in Latin America.
